Brief Biography
Dr. Thomas Minehan graduated from Columbia University in New York City, NY with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry in 1992. He then went to Harvard University in Cambridge, MA where he worked on his doctoral thesis in Organic Synthesis with Professor Yoshito Kishi, and he received his PhD in Chemistry in 1998. From 1999-2001, Dr. Minehan was an American Cancer Society postdoctoral scholar in Bioorganic Chemistry at California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, CA working under the direction of Professor Peter Dervan. From 2001-2003 he was an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Harvey Mudd College in Claremont CA, before joining the faculty at CSUN in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry as an Assistant Professor in 2004. He became Associate Professor in 2009, and Professor of Chemistry in 2014. His research interests focus on new reaction development, green chemistry, the total synthesis of biologically active natural products, and the molecular recognition of DNA in the major groove by small organic molecules.
