Dr. Traci Dennis has more than a decade of classroom teaching experience. With a dedicated focus on empowering minoritized students in underserved secondary schools, Dr. Dennis has served in various capacities across diverse educational landscapes in Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington, D.C. Her scholarly endeavors include translating antiracist theories into tangible practices within PK-12 educational settings. As Principal Investigator of a groundbreaking Gates-funded initiative in collaboration with the Antiracist Research & Policy Center, led by the esteemed Dr. Ibram Kendi, Dr. Dennis co-developed an antiracist teaching professional development curriculum. This curriculum, piloted with public-school educators in Summer 2021, underscores her commitment to cultivating a more equitable and inclusive teacher and leadership cadre.

Dr. Dennis' intersectional research centers around antiracist teacher preparation, understanding the lived experiences of Black female educators and exploring factors that impact Black student achievement. She shares her insights and findings at local, national, and international conferences. Dr. Dennis' work is published in Education Week, the Journal of Negro Education, and the Journal of Education and Social Justice. Among her recent publications is a co-authored chapter in "Antiracist Counseling in Schools and Communities," alongside an Education Week opinion piece titled "How to Train an Anti-Racist Teacher: 9 Practical Takeaways."
