Valeria is a proud alumna of both California State University, Northridge (CSUN) and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). As a first-generation college student, she experienced firsthand the challenges and opportunities of navigating higher education, an experience that continues to inspire her commitment to supporting students from all backgrounds.

Since joining the faculty as a lecturer at CSUN in Fall 2023, Valeria has found joy in creating welcoming, engaging, and inclusive classrooms where students feel valued, and encouraged to grow. She believes learning is most meaningful when students can connect course material to their own lived experiences and develop the confidence to think critically and contribute to their communities.

Valeria has taught and collaborated across several departments, including Child and Adolescent Development, Academic First-Year Experiences, Sociology, and Central American and Transborder Studies. Through her teaching, she is committed to fostering curiosity, building community, and helping students recognize their own strengths and potential.
