Valeria, the daughter of Salvadoran immigrants, was raised in Los Angeles County and is a proud alumna of both CSUN and UCLA. As a first-generation college student, she successfully navigated the education system and developed a passion for educational equity. During her graduate studies at CSUN, Valeria employed a qualitative research lens to explore the Latinx community’s understandings and perceptions of the Black Lives Matter Movement. Her academic interests focus on collective action and cross-coalition building.

In the classroom, Valeria is deeply committed to creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment that supports student growth. She has collaborated with various departments—including Child and Adolescent Development, Academic First Year Experiences, Sociology, and Central American and Transborder Studies—demonstrating her dedication to interdisciplinary teaching and scholarship.
