Dr. Qais Amarkhil is an Assistant Professor at California State University, Northridge. He earned a BS in civil engineering from Kabul Polytechnic University in 2009 and later taught there until 2017. A Fulbright and Rotary International Scholar, Dr. Amarkhil completed his master's and Ph.D. in construction management technology at Purdue University in 2022. His industry experience includes working as a contractor with the Corps of Engineers as a construction and project manager on various projects.
His research applies advanced technologies to support innovation in AEC, including AI, BIM automation, computational modeling, and standardized data formats. He focuses on automating and optimizing project planning, real-time monitoring, and control to enhance efficiency and productivity. His work contributes to technology adoption, data-driven decision-making, interoperability, collaboration, standards compliance, resilience in the built environment, and advancing delivery methods. His research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Amarkhil is an Associate Editor for ASCE's Journal of Structural Design and Construction Practice and a reviewer for several journals. His achievements include the Global Citizen and Fulbright Graduate Studies Scholarships, the Peace and Development Scholarship, and the Junior Faculty Development Fellowship at Indiana University. He also holds a certification in Effective Teaching Practices from ACUE.
