iSTART (Initiative for Substance prevention TechHealth and Rapid Testing) is a 5-year grant, led by Dr. Bethany Rainisch (Health Sciences). iSTART is committed to providing FREE, confidential rapid HIV and Hep-C testing and risk-reduction resources to CSUN students, as well as comprehensive resources for substance use prevention, with a focus on promoting health and wellness activities.
Through providing these services for free, our mission is to increase awareness about substance use and HIV/Hep-C prevention, reduce risky behavior, and reduce the stigma behind substance abuse and HIV among students on campus. This grant is funded by the federal agency, SAMHSA, and our services are provided in collaboration with Tarzana Treatment Centers (TCC).
