The purpose of this grant is to further develop strategies for educator preparation and professional development for Linked Learning, a national and statewide initiative integrating high school academic programs with career-based learning and real-world workplace experiences. The grant is made possible by the James Irvine Foundation, with CSU Long Beach (CSULB) leading the initiative with the CSU Chancellor?s Office, collaborating with other CSU campuses across the system. At the Michael D. Eisner College of Education, with the Secondary Education Department taking the intitiative, the sub-award from CSULB will consist of three main activities. Activity 1: Pre-service educator preparation at the master?s level ? preparation of 2 course proposals, one on multidisciplinary collaboration and project-based learning (PBL), and the other on the policy, practice, and history of college- and career-readiness (CCR). Activity 2: Continuing to Build a Community of Practice at CSUN ? curriculum/syllabus workshops with credential course and seminar instructors. Activity 3: Sustaining a Linked Learning Community of Practice ? conference participation support.
