There is a critical need for highly-qualified educators of deaf students, including those from linguistically, ethnically, and racially minoritized groups. The purpose of Project PRISM-Ed is to implement a pipeline through Deaf Studies into the Deaf Education Preliminary Credential Program at California State University, Northridge. Project PRISM-Ed will recruit, retain, and prepare educators of the deaf by incorporating equity-minded teaching principles to support social and linguistic justice for deaf students who are economically and linguistically marginalized. Expected outcomes include preparing 25 educators of the deaf to implement best-practices in deaf education using American Sign Language and applying principles of equity-minded teaching.
