Dr. Sun has more than 19 years of experience in research, teaching, and professional practice in structural engineering. His research interests include ultra-high performance concrete, innovative structural systems, sustainable construction, structural stability, additive manufacturing of concrete, and autonomous construction. He has been a principal investigator on more than 10 research grants and holds a patent on a wind tower system. He has performed design, construction engineering, inspection, and rehabilitation of numerous types of structures, including buildings, bridges, tunnels, and culverts, and has served as a lead project engineer or project manager in eight significant projects that received national design awards.
