Dr. Sun has more than 20 years of experience in research, teaching, and professional practice in structural engineering. His research interests include ultra-high performance concrete, innovative structural systems, sustainable construction, structural stability, and additive manufacturing of concrete. He has served as Principal Investigator on more than 15 research projects supported by federal agencies and industry sponsors. He has performed design, construction engineering, inspection, and rehabilitation of numerous types of structures, including buildings, bridges, tunnels, and culverts, and has served as lead project engineer or project manager on eight significant projects that received national design awards.
